Volunteer Society Nepal’s volunteering fees are very low, but still 33% of your fee goes directly to the project you will be working on

final-fee-pie-chartWe understand how important it is for you to trust that your money is being well spent. This is why we have given you a full breakdown of where your volunteering fee will go. As you can see, we keep the administration costs to a minimum ensuring that our fees are competitive and as many volunteers as possible can come and help in Nepal.

The way we allocate your fee to a project is by combining all volunteers’ fees and putting them towards larger projects. We believe that combining the money together means we can make large differences rather than dripping small amounts into projects which get lost in the day to day running of them. For example, with $5,000 dollars we are able to set up a whole new health clinic in an area or build new classrooms. These are the projects which make significant changes to the Nepali people. However, if you particularly want the part of your fee set aside for project support to go to a particular cause, then this can be discussed with VSN directors when you are here.

If for any reason the cost of one of these elements comes in under the amount in this table, for example your placement is in Kathmandu and thus cutting transport to site down, then this money is fed directly into the charitable project you are working on.

We are afraid that these fees are non-negotiable. We are unique amongst volunteer societies in giving this much insight into the workings of our organisation. We do not accept requests from people to lower their fees by managing their own orientation, transportation etc. If you do not wish to take advantage of any of the program elements then this money is fed back direct to the project you will work on.
