Occupational Therapy Volunteering in Nepal
People with mental illness needs rehabilitation for returning back to their social life. Occupational therapy focuses on children with development delays which are cerebral palsy, down syndrome, autism, learning disability, muscular dystrophy and so on.
Although there is high demand of skilled occupational therapists in Nepal, there are very few qualified occupational therapists in Nepal. Volunteer Society Nepal recently welcomed occupational therapy volunteer Ms. Majolein Oosterheert from the Netherlands to volunteer at our disability center. She volunteered at our center to develop occupational therapy. She also trained our staff on the role of occupational therapy and how it can be incorporated into patient rehabilitation and also about basic therapy techniques. Along with In-charge at the Center, she also provided home visit service and provided treatment for the children.
