kathvalleyschoolkids-226x30At Volunteer Society Nepal we ensure you are always within reach of our staff and able to be contacted by home

From the moment you land in Kathmandu to the moment your placement ends we take your security and enjoyment extremely seriously.

Pre Departure Support:

We are unique in being able to tailor your volunteering period to your needs. We often arrange multiple placements in one visit for our volunteers and we also endeavour to take into account all specific requests. We also guide you through the visa process (although it really is very simple), give you advice on what to bring and any fundraising support you may want in advance of your arrival.

24hr in country support:

homestaymother-300x235There will always be a member of VSN staff available 24 hours a day by phone. Within the developed areas you are never far from phones and international and Nepali mobiles also work well. If you are in a rural area with minimal communications facilities we make sure you are briefed on how to use the village phone and that your homestay family can help you with any queries you have. We also provide an emergency number for family and friends to ring to get in contact at short notice.

Health care:

Nepal offers basic medical services but there are several International standard hospitals in Kathmandu for emergency medical treatment. VSN generally refers to the CIWEC Clinic and the Nepal International Clinic. However, if you are taking any prescription medicine, we suggest that you bring an ample supply from your home country.

To ensure minimal illnesses, we always do all we can to ensure that food and water during training and placement is safe and clean. VSN Nepal trains the host families regarding the safety of their water and food and all of them have experience accommodating past volunteers. They will always give you boiled water and well cooked food. However, there is still a chance of contracting illnesses like diarrhea or guardia in Nepal so you need to be very aware of personal hygiene like washing your hands thoroughly.
