Volunteer’s help at Disability Centre
Sometimes, the best way to get the most out of the monotonous schedules for the children is to take them out for a walk, day trip, picnic, park etc. These types of activities can make the children, particularly the children of special needs happy and healthier. The outdoor activities also help the children taking challenges and learn life skills without even realizing it. We believe that through such kind of activities, the children benefit from releasing stress and anxiety, develop social skills and also confidence.
On the 1st of November, Wednesday, the children from Centre for Children with Intellectual Disabilities were taken for Heritage walk at Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples in the world listed by UN as World Heritage Site. 14 children, 4 staffs and a volunteer participated in the program. The number of our staffs are not enough while taking the children for outdoor trips. So, we mostly organize outdoor trips for the children when we have volunteers at the centre and also request parents to contribute their time.
The children enjoyed the trip a lot and finally ended with having MoMos for the lunch.
A volunteer from Australia Ms Cristina Travan took major responsibilities while taking the children for the walk.
