Kindergarten and Early Childhood Development Volunteering in Nepal

Meet Siem: A Young Volunteer Making a Big Impact

At just 17 years old, Siem from the Netherlands is proving that age is no barrier to making a difference! Siem is currently in Nepal for a 4-week volunteering program at CBIA School, where he is assisting the kindergarten teachers. His dedication and enthusiasm are inspiring everyone around him. We’re thrilled to have such a passionate young volunteer contributing to the education and growth of our children.

Teaching or Assisting Teacher Volunteering Program at Kindergarten

The children at CBIA School range from 3 to 16 years old, offering a diverse and enriching environment for volunteers. Our teaching or assisting teacher volunteering program is designed to support both the children and the teachers in a variety of ways.

First Few Days: Observation and Integration

  • For the first few days, volunteers will observe the teachers to understand how they teach and become familiar with the Nepali teaching methods.
  • This period allows volunteers to get acclimated to the classroom environment and the teaching style.

Active Participation and Collaboration

  • After the observation period, volunteers will work alongside Nepali teachers to conduct classes, helping to improve teaching methods and offer additional support to students.
  • Volunteers will assist with classwork, helping students understand and complete their tasks effectively.

Creative and Engaging Teaching Methods

  • Volunteers are encouraged to use creative methods to teach, making learning fun and engaging for the children.
  • Teaching basic English such as the alphabet, numbers, objects, and rhyming can be done through interactive activities and games.
  • Volunteers can get creative with drawing, painting, arts and crafts, and other playground games to stimulate the children’s imagination and learning.

Learning Through Play

  • Teaching through play and playground games is a key component of the program, helping children learn in a fun and relaxed environment.
  • Volunteers will also help with basic reading and writing in English, laying a strong foundation for the children’s future education.
