Request for Donation to Rebuild Schools Damaged By Recent Earthquake in Nepal
DONATION REQUEST FOR REBUILDING NEPAL 2015 EARTHQUAKE DAMAGED SCHOOL BUILDING
PROPOSED SCHOOL: TRIRATNA COOPERATIVE SECONDARY SCHOOL, Bungamati, Lalitpur District, Nepal
Tri Ratna Cooperative Secondary School is a small school located at a place called Bugamati. Bungamati is a medieval Newar village dating from the 6th century which lies at the southern end of Kathmandu Valley. This village holds strong ethnical Newari culture like of Bhaktapur and Kathmandu. Bungamati village is one of the hardest recent earthquakes hit places in Lalitpur District. Survivors are crowded into temporary camps, some living under a tarpaulin strung from the ruins of buildings.
Tri Ratna Cooperative School could not remain unharmed by this earthquake. The school building has been badly damaged making it dangerous to step in. The School area covers approximately 25000 sq ft of land and the school building consist of 15 classrooms, IT centre, Library and office, now which are all severely damaged. Tri Ratna Cooperative School was founded by Cooperative Society of Bungamati in 1992. The school has been providing comprehensive education to the rural children with affordable cost. 21 teachers and 4 logistic support staffs are serving their knowledge and talents to 280 students who are studying in this school.
Volunteer Society Nepal has been supporting this school since a long time by funds, donations, scholarships and helping to upgrade the educational standard by placing our international volunteers for teaching and several other extracurricular activities. Due to the damages to the building, the school is not in position to call its students to start their education.
As the rainy season is approaching, the management committee has decided to build temporary sheds in its own land with help from generous donors. The school has started foundation layering with its own financial source and the community is providing free manual labor.
Volunteer Society Nepal would like to request for donations from our friends, well wishers and generous donors to help rebuild this school. Your donations will help the children restart their school life in earthquake safe premises. Together we can bring smile on the faces of the children and help them brighten their future.
