Support at a school in Okhaldhunga

Volunteer Society Nepal has been supporting Shree Sagarmatha Janata Higher Secondary School in Okhaldhunga since few years by placing its volunteers as English language teachers. The volunteers help the school in developing English language skills in its students, several other extra curricular activities and also help the teachers in learning new teaching methods.

Pieter van Putten from Belgium and Sarah Blondeau from Canada volunteered four weeks and two weeks respectively at Shree Sagarmatha Janata Higher Secondary School in Okhaldhunga as English teachers during the January 2016. While volunteering at school, Pieter donated fund for school’s ongoing construction of clean and safe drinking water system and installed a UV water purifier.

We hope that this water purification system will help to alleviate major waterborne illnesses especially during the monsoon season. We believe that this will contribute to maintaining a high level of general health among the students and the staff.

This is an example that small donations and involvement that bring big changes in the life of the children in Nepal.

Volunteer Society Nepal donated a box full of several stationary items to the school.
