Volunteer Society Nepal : The best experience for volunteers, the best value for Nepal.
Many volunteers raise some donation from friends and families at their home country before they leave for Nepal. Volunteer Society Nepal suggest them to spend those amounts at their volunteering placements.
It is better to bring the donation in the form of money to Nepal. The volunteers can then observe what is the projects need while they work there. Afterwards they can go out and buy the things the project needs in the small shops. In this way you not only help the project but also help the small businesses in Nepal.
Jos and Willemien de Klein are a couple from The Netherlands. They donated several things while volunteering in a monastery. The monastery is located in a small village in the mountains called Salleri. They raised money among friends and families in Netherlands. The head of the monastery shared with them that they are in need of new mattresses and blankets. This way they can keep the monks warm for the winter to come. In Salleri the temperature will get far below freezing point at night and right now many blankets and mattresses are old, thin and moldy. Jos and Willemien went to the shop and, with some bargaining help from our friends in Salleri, bought lots of sheets and mattresses. Please have a look at the pictures below.
Jos and Willemien will be involved in helping several other projects of VSN. Before leaving in late November, they will also join the Tibet tour which will be organized by VSN itself. Volunteer Society Nepal’s sister organization Travel Society Nepal will be handling all their trekking and travel related matters.
Volunteer Society Nepal and all the monks in Salleri would like to thank Jos de Klein and Willemien de Klein for their generous support.
